This role is designed to lead the Global Early Asset & Business Development (EA/BD) Team. The role serves as a strategic business partner to Early Asset Commercial and the Global Product Team, providing market insights that drive key business investment decisions and TA Strategy development.  The EA/BD Sr. Director reports to the Global/ U.S  Head of Insights, Analytics & Forecasting, R&I/ V&I, leads a global and U.S IAF team, collaborates with Commercial, Finance and Competitive Intelligence to enable delivery of recommendations that drive senior executive decisions concerning the AZ pipeline.

  • Leadership over robust and fast-paced Business Development Opportunity Assessments

  • Strategic vision over NME Market Opportunity Assessments

  • Primary I&A Lead on Global TA Strategy Business Process

  • Primary I&A Lead for New Opps Strategic Planning

  • Planning & Alignment of the Insights/Budget required to inform FRC/LSPC Decisions

  • Handles complexity with well-integrated synthesized insights and instills confidence in the presence of ambiguity

  • Builds a high performing team and develops talent to meet both career and organizational goals

  • Displays an understanding of the business, competitive landscape, market and customer to inform a strategic plan, challenge assumptions, and identify creative solutions to business issues

  • Maintains a global view and strategic mindset to inform possibilities and risks of the long termpipeline

  • Is open to and values diverse perspectives and cultural norms, driving engagement of the team and other internal/external partners

  • Responsible for ensuring all primary research is conducted in accordance with internal AZ compliance policies and best practices, with preferred vendors

Essential for the role

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in science or commercial related program

• Good business acumen, critical thinking and understanding of sales and marketing business practices

• Good financial modeling and forecasting skills

• Proven track record to lead teams through competing business priorities/deadlines

• Experience in the pharmaceutical or consumer industries

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Strong interpersonal, inclusive leadership and collaboration skills

• Comfortable working in a matrix environment

Demonstrates self-awareness and willingness to learn through stretch opportunities as well as adapts to coaching, actively pursing growth in development areas

Desirable 

• MBA

• In depth knowledge of regional market dynamics through to in-market or regional experience
